Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

Another lovely day at the sales. I went solo as Mr Joyful Thrifter took some much needed rest. I however made sure I borrowed his truck just in case I brought something large home. You must always be prepared when you are a thrfit store junky. You never want to miss out on a good deal cause you brought the little car.

These are the lovely treasures I found today

I don't know why I bought these scissors but I did. I thought they were very unique looking. Who knows where I will put them, but I was thinking they might make a cool decoration in my craft room. I paid $2.00 for them.

I paid more for the old book then I normally do, but it was in wonderful condition and the cover had such lovely flowers. Unfortunately there is no year noted in the book. I paid $3.00 for it and it was still a good deal.

The illustrations are so pretty

Another old book, but this one I bought because it was so much fun. I only paid $0.50 for it. Plus it has great cartoons through out the whole book.

A wooden spool for $0.99. I am not sure if it is old but it is so cute.

I saw this lovely quilt hanging on a fense and fell in love with it. I looked around for a bit and finally decided to ask how much it was. I thought it would be highly over priced. The guy running the sale said how about a buck? SOLD! Who wouldn't buy a hand made quilt for $1.00?

The duck is my favorite

Wonderfully sweet yellow shelf for $4.99. I can't wait to use this in my craft room.

Hope you all had a wonderfully thrifty week!

Joyful TableScapes

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

Since our move I have been itching to decorate for fall, and I finally got a chance to do that this week. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love the decorations and the smells.

I found these wonderful leaves at the dollar store, and I knew they would make a lovely table runner.

I laid the leaves out to match the length of my kitchen table

I pinned each one together so it wouldn't dance around when I began to sew it. Putting those pins in these paper leaves did make for a challenge. I can proudly say I did not rip one leaf.

I had to sew it in two parts because it was so stiff

I knew I was going to love it when I saw it hanging out of my sewing machine. I love it when things come out the way you want them too.

I had to do a lot of stop and going, so there were a ton of loose threads.

The final product came out so lovely

After I had the perfect table runner the only thing that was missing was some Pyrex and mini pumpkins

I only had one "P" so I had to make due

Enjoy a lovely fall evening with a warm cup of tea and a good book.

The Joyful Thrifter

Joyful Inheritance

 Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I wanted to share with you all a lovely story and a new addition to my little family.

Once upon a time....

A young Joyful thrifter grew up with a simple dining room set, and to her it was the table and chairs that was used at Thanksgiving and a hutch that held her mothers wedding china that was rarely ever used. As time went on my sweet mother found a "new to her" dining room set after her children left the nest. After the new dining set was put in place she posted her old dining room set on craigslist. A sweet couple came and picked up the set, and were pleased as could be to have a "new to them" dining room set. When the Joyful thrifter was visiting with a friend from church it came out that she just picked up her mothers dining room set. The Joyful thrifter was overjoyed to find out that her mom had accidentally given her dining room set to a lovely couple attending her church.

As time went on the dining rooms new owners moved away to texas and could not take the beautiful dining room set, so they gave the hutch away to another lovely couple.

The now married Joyful thrifter forgot all about the hutch she grew up with until a wonderful surprise awaited her when she signed into facebook. The first picture she saw on her newsfeed was her mothers hutch with the following comment below it: I am moving and I can't keep this hutch. Who would like it? The Joyful thrifter quickly sent a private message asking her friend who now owned the hutch if she could please have the hutch and how much did she want for it? The response its yours and the price is FREE!!! The Joyful thrifter re-inheritated her mothers hutch and gave it a new home.

The End

Welcome back to the family hutch.

This hutch will store all of my Pyrex. I hope to get it all organized and cute in the near future.

Smiles,
The Joyful Thrifter

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and friends,

It feels like ages since I have posted a treasure hunt finds post. It was so much fun going to the garage sales this morning and finding some awesome treasures!!

When I found this pink phone I actually left it at the thrift store, and as I was driving home I regretted not buying it. I also proceeded to complain to Mr Joyful thrifter about how sad I was for not buying the pink princess phone. To help with my sadness I went online and was browsing on mod cloth only to discover this. I knew it was the wrong decision to not get that pink phone! I went to goodwill the next day but it was gone, and I called my husband to tell him how sad I was that the phone was gone. When I met up with my sweet Mr Joyful thrifter for dinner he pulled out a bag with goodwill on it and I could see a pink beauty through the plastic! He went back and bought the phone for me a few hours before I went to go and look for it. HE IS SUCH A SWEETIE!!!

Following the pink phone came this awesome pink christmas tree at a garage sale. Mr Joyful thrifter was NOT a fan of this pink tree, but I really liked it. I was about to head out when the lady says to me you can have it for FREE if you want it. I of course was not going to pass up a pink tree for FREE! She was so thankful that she did not have to re pack it.

I just love these green owls! I paid $3.00 for the set. I can't wait to display them.

Some more fun Christmas decorations. I love this christmas scene made out of paper. It is so cute and so vintage. I paid $0.99 for the set.

How sweet are these little houses.

I have not found Pyrex for awhile, so I jumped with joy to find this fridgie! I paid $1.00 for it at the same sale that I got the FREE pink christmas tree.

This was a find that has been our want list for awhile, but honestly I did not know if we would ever find it. Mr Joyful thrifter asked the price on this spool and a simple table I can use as a craft table. The lady holding the sale was so excited to sell them both and she asked if $10.00 for the pair would be ok. SOLD! We were so jazzed to pay $5.00 for this awesome spool.

What a wonderful thrifty week! I can't wait to finish unpacking my apartment so my new treasures can be on display. I will post photos this week of our new apartment!

Hope you all had a wonderfully thrifty week!

The Joyful Thrifter

Wall color blues or reds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I have finally dug myself out of boxes to remind you all that I am still here! We are finally moved into our new apartment, and I am loving our new home. It has so many new spaces to decorate. Once we have internet I will post pictures of our lovely home, but until that time I need your assistance in picking a wall color for my bathroom.

These are two colors I rarely ever decorate with, but I want to do something drastic in our bathroom because I can and because it sounds like fun!

Deep Blue is option #1

Deep Red is option #2

Please leave a comment with your vote. Once the votes are counted that will be my color choice for my bathroom wall.

Before I go I must leave with you with some vintage goodness...

I love the color of this scale, and I now have it in my mind to paint my little scale this sweet green color.

Treasure hunt finds will be back soon once I get a chance to do some thrift shopping.

Hope you are having a lovely thrifty day!

Joyful Wear

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I love putting together an outfit that makes you feel pretty and ready to enjoy the day. I don't always get that luxury, but I just love it when I walk out of the house feeling lovely and pretty. I have found all of these lovelies on my internet travels and thought it would be fun to share them with you...

Sweet coat with lovely delicate details

A perfect shade of turquoise amongst beautiful detailing

Cheerful bag

And finally perfectly sweet shoes

Most of the items are out of my budget BUT one of the joys of being a thrifter is I can take this concept and recreate it for an inexpensive price by finding similar pieces at thrift stores. One of the many joys of being a thrifter.

How much did your favorite thrift store outfit cost? HAPPY THRIFTING!

Joyful Inspriation

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

As my excitement builds for this weekend and we finally move into our new apartment. I couldn't help search the halls of Pinterest for craft room ideas. I am so excited that my generous Mr Joyful thrifter has given me the den to call my craft room. The below rooms are very so sweet and get me all excited about getting settled in my new craft space...

(all images via pinterest)

I will be posting pictures as my craft room evolves into the space I am hoping it will become. What does your creative space look like? Do you have a small space or a large space?
