Happy Things on Friday

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
Happy weekend!!! Great weather make for a great weekend, and that is always fantastic. I love the happy images I have to share with you friends this week. Enjoy!!

~~Inked~~ How absolutely lovely is this tattoo. I love how whispy the "Be Still" is written plus the outfit is so cute too. If I get a tattoo this is exactly how I would want it to look.
~~Lovely Wear~~ Creamy cream tights are just a lovely addition to any outfit. How cute would it be to have all of your bridesmaids decked out in these lovely dotty tights.
~~Home~~ As you well know I am a Pyrex collector and I don't really need a new collection, but look at this beautiful bowl collection. How awesome would this be next to my Pyrex collection. Must resist the temptation to start yet another collection.
~~Crafty Goodness~~ I have so many ideas swirling in my mind to re-make one of these lovely paper chandeliers
~~Just Cute~~ How awesomeonly wonderful is this picture. I just love the sign, the birds, and the chairs! Oh so cute!
Enjoy your weekend!! I hope you have a lovely weekend and find lots of treasures!

Mail Box Gardening Tool Box

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
With springs arrival I am loving being in my back yard and planting some new plants for the house. It is so much fun to see plants grow, and bring naturally beautiful color into my home. I just love it. Here is a lovely quote that inspired me so much as I brought new plants into my home.
The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's Heart in a garden
Than Anywhere else on earth
~Dorothy Frances Gurney~
I needed a place to store my small collection of gardening tools. I saw on Pinterest someone was using a mail box to store their gardening tools, and was so happy to realize I could do it too!
My dad made the base for my mail box quite awhile ago, and then we spray painted it. I am so glad to have a home for my mail box again because it was just sitting in our garage.
Perfect home for my tools.
I love my new plants, and I was more then pleased to use my tools from my storage box.
Just for some spring fun here are some snap shots of my beautifully blooming back yard.
Such a happy gardening corner.
Where do you store your gardening supplies?

Picnic Date at the Lake

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
After visiting a very small lake recently with some ladies from church I decided it would be great fun to take Mr Joyful Thrifter there for a picnic lunch. I planned it all out and bought special snacks to enjoy. In my mind it was going to be a beautifully sunny day where we could sit and enjoy the breeze and the water. Lets just say the only thing that happened was going to the lake and enjoying the food because it was FREEZING at the lake. We ended up eating our food in the truck and jumping out of the truck only for enough time to snap these pictures. It was still so much fun though, and we are so glad we went.
Here we are serious
Here we are SILLY!
Oh how I love this guy! My heart is so full when I think of him.
The clouds were so lovely!
I hope you have had some lovely dates recently with your sweetie too.

Curtains out of a $3.99 Table Cloth

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
I found this beautiful table cloth at a thrift store for $3.99 recently and I just fell in love with the colors. Curtains are a sore subject in our house because I have visited countless stores to find expensive curtains that are not the colors I was looking for. So when I found this beautiful table cloth and it was only $3.99 both Mr Joyful Thrifter and I were so excited.
I cut the table cloth in half and then pinned it along the edge.
I sewed up both sides and sewed the opening at the top for the curtain rod.
The whole project took an afternoon and the final product is more then I could have hoped for. I just love how it looks so soft and airy.
I have had these sheer curtains since Mr Joyful Thrifter and I got married. I was so happy to bring them out again and hang them in our living room.
My New happy plants!
I am so happy with my project, and I am loving how my living room is looking. I have just been sitting in my room just enjoy the curtains or the comfy couches.

Vanilla Peach Coffee Cake

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
I signed up to make dessert for my book club, and I knew that I was going to try something new just for fun. I bought a spring form pan years ago, but have always been a little intimidated by it for some reason. I decided it was time to use my pan and make a yummy coffee cake and get over my silly fear.

Vanilla Peach Coffee Cake

Recipe via Pines Cones and Acorns

Batter:

2 eggs
1 C milk
1/2 C oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 C sour cream
3 C flour
1 C sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Topping:
5 or 6 large peaches, diced.
3 Tbsp. butter, melted
11/4 C brown sugar
1Tbsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
4 Tbsp. flour

Vanilla Icing:
1 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla or vanilla bean paste
3/4 C powdered sugar
2-3 tsp. heavy cream

Directions:

Prepare 9 inch spring form pan with cooking spray. Preheat oven to 350. Beat eggs on medium for 1 minute. Add oil, vanilla, milk and sour cream then beat for another two minutes. In separate bowl, mix flour baking soda, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add this dry mixture to the wet and mix for a few minutes until well incorporated. Do not over mix. Pour the batter into the spring form pan.

Peach filling: In separate bowl, mix the peaches, melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and the flour. Evenly distribute the mixture over the batter.

Icing: Mix vanilla, powdered sugar and vanilla in a bowl, it will be lumpy so don't worry. Slowly add heavy cream a little at a time until the frosting is the consistency you like.

Bake for 1 hour and 5- 10 minutes. I recommend checking this cake after about 55-60 minutes, the add additional time if not done. When a toothpick or skewer poked into the center comes out clean the cake is finished.  Let cake cook and then drizzle with icing.

Now its time to sit down with a cup of warm coffee and another good book and enjoy a piece of this yummy cake. ENJOY!

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
I only have a few finds to share this week because I was busy enjoying other things like some great craft projects I will be sharing soon, babysitting my little niece and nephew, and enjoying time with Mr Joyful Thrifter.

Today I went out to buy some new plants and stopped at a few garage sales. I had $3.00 cash in my wallet and some quarters in my car so I knew I could not buy a lot. I found this strange container of chipboard letters at a garage sale. In my mind I could easily see tons of cards or other fun scrap booking projects with these letters. Plus they were already sorted. SCORE! He was asking $5.00, which just so happened to be exactly what I had in my wallet.
Last week I found this half mug, and strangely enough at the same good will I found this second half mug. I was so delighted, and then started wondering if I was starting some sort of half mug collection. I was happy to bring him home for $1.99.
This mug is just so funny!
What did you find this week? I would love to see your treasures too! Feel free to link up below. Or you can post your pictures to the Joyful Treasure Hunting facebook page (link on the side bar).

Smiles,

Here are the lovely sites I enjoy linking up with. We get to share more fun that way:
