The Joyful Thrifters Bag - Craft Bag

Hello Fellow Thrifters,

I was carrying my craft bag around this past week so I have fun inspirational things to work on during my lunch break at work, and I thought it would be fun to share with you all what is inside my little craft bag.

This is one of my favorite tote bags. I just love Paris and the Eiffel tower, so this bag is perfect for me. This week I carried my knitting and two wonderful craft books.

I am super excited to announce that I taught myself to knit within the last month, and I think it is going well. I will be so proud when I wear my finished scarf for the first time. I was inspired to knit by one of my favorite blogs One Sheepish Girl  I just love her blog. She has such wonderful photography skills, and her knitting is so lovely. All that to be said her blog is what got me going on knitting. I really like this craft because I can easily take it to starbucks on my lunch break and relax, but still be creative.

I found these two wonderful craft books the last time I was at Joann's and my sweet mom gave me her 50% off coupons so they were half the price. That is always a wonderful treat. I hope to showcase some projects soon that I learned from these books.

What is in your travel craft bag?

The Joy of Pyrex - Wall Art

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I am so excited about this post because I have been working on finishing this project for a bit of time. I bought this wonderful Pyrex magazine ad off of ebay ages ago, and have since been searching for the perfect frame to put it in. I found just the right frame over the weekend at good will, and it was exactly in the price range I wanted to pay. I found it for $2.99.

I just love this picture of the husband and wife doing dishes together. It makes me smile when I walk by it now.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Joyful Decorating - Putting that TV tray to use

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

After I took the pictures of my thrifted TV tray I put it straight away into its new home. I have been looking for one with legs to go in the bathroom to make some more out in the open storage.

I rarely leave the house without clipping a flower in my hair, and before I had them in my drawer and they were getting beat up. Once I put them in my Pyrex dish I can easily see them, and they stay in much better shape.

My small collection of vintage pins. These two pins are so cute and cheerful.

My Pyrex mugs hold my rings, bracelets and some lip glosses.

I think it came out super cute, and now it looks cuter then all of this just sitting on the counter.

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

After a very long week it was wonderful to have a day of relaxation. I really wanted to visit the thrift stores in Ventura, and my sweet Mr Joyful Thrifter agreed to take me on an adventure. We had such a lovely time. The weather was absolutely perfect. I love a day where all I need is a light sweater and cute skirt and ballet flats. That is a perfect day. Here are the lovely treasures that came home with me.

Two green tins for $0.29 each. I am not sure what I shall do with these cute tins, but the price was just right. I will either use them for decorating or use them as part of a gift. The options are endless.

Another Pyrex pitcher with lemons and oranges. I have the smaller version of this beauty, and now I have its mommy. I got it for $1.99, which was a fantastic price for this pitcher.

More lovely Pyrex. This one was found at a new thrift store I had never been to before. Mr Joyful thrifter discovered it when he was picking up some inventory for his work. It was not a great thrift store as far as ummm....cleanliness goes, but it still had some gems hidden inside. This double dish was only $2.50.

These wooden hangers are fantastic for hanging doilies or old photos or whatever. I bought two of them awhile back, and when I saw this stack for $1.95 I had to snatch them up.

My favorite find of the day was this awesome TV tray. Look at that detail on the top.

I will post pictures later this week of where this little tray ended up in my apartment, but for now I will just share how much I paid for her. I got her for $2.99. I just loved it.

Hope you all had a wonderfully thrifty week!

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I recently re-did the yellow shelf in my hallway to give it a very vintage feel. Plus I wanted to display my family photographs and some favorite old photos that I have found at garage sales.

This is my Grandma as a little one

The handsome guy on the lower left is my grandpa

This is my sweet mom at one of her baby showers. It is one of my favorite pictures because its candid and she looks so happy.
On the left is my great grandma again.

That handsome guy on the right is my dad in junior high. He was a good looking fella.

It was fun to display my loved ones in my apartment, and now to share them with you lovely friends.

Gifted Joy - Grandmas file cabinet

Hello Fellow thrifters and Friends,

My Grandma was recently moved to a rehab facility, so she could not keep all of treasures. Life changes so much when you reach a certain age. I was pleased to receive this wonderful vintage file cabinet. I am not sure what she held in this beauty, but I was excited to have it. I love the size and shape of it. I don't think it was a special treasure to her, but I love it.

Look at how excited that cartoon is to have a place to store her files! YEAH!

Have you been given a special treasure from a loved one?

Finding Joy in the Little Things - Mushroom Needles

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

My sweet mom gave me these adorable needles, and I had to share them with you.

I don't know what it is about these needles, but they put a smile on my face right when I look at them. I am not sure what exactly to do with them, but I thought it might like cute if I figure out how to them them into a pin for my shirt. Do you have any ideas to use these cute Pins for?

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

Today was such a perfect day. I got to go thrift shopping with my mom! That is a rare treat, and we made the most of it.  We went to her an city near her house that I don't get to very often to get some new treasures. We went to two goodwills, a salvation army, and the assistance league thrift store. It was great fun, and I came away with some lovely treasures.

This beautiful handmade tea towell. It was made with perfect precision, and made me sad that whoever made it gave it away. Anyways I only paid $0.50 for it, and I thought that was an absolute steal!

A little pot holder. I mainly bought this little guy because I want to learn how to make them someday, and I wanted the inspiration handy. I paid $0.25 for it, and I will put it to proper use.

A theme arose when I found this pink doily at the same store that the above were purchased. I loved the flowers and details on this doily. I paid $0.75 for this sweet gem.

I have a project in mind for these hoops, and I got them each for $1.57. I can't wait to post about what i plan on doing with them.

Finally, this is my favorite find of the day. The Pyrex cookie jar. I already have one that was gifted to me by my mom, but I could not pass up finding this one at Salvation army for $4.57. I think this one will live in my craft room filled with ribbon or thread.

Hope you all had a wonderfully thrifty week!

Smiles,
