Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I don't have many finds to share this week, but I did find a few little fun things to show off. There is a local resale site that I love to buy things from. It is sort of like Craiglist, but more local and easier to buy stuff from. I have been buying clothes and furniture from this fun site for a few months, and it makes for a fun treasure hunt around town. Anyways here is what I found this week through this local resale site.

I found this candle holder Chandelier type item for sale, and knew it would look cool somewhere in my house. I thought at first it would make a cool center piece now I am thinking it would look fancy hanging in our den. Anyways lots of ideas for this fun piece and a great piece for only $5.00.

The lady who sold me the candle holder above asked if I wanted to take a peak at her box of free items. I of course jumped at the chance to look through free treasures. I found these two horses in her box and definitely took them. I think they will make great book ends. I have seen many people paint toy horses gold recently, so I was pleased to find metal ones already painted gold and for FREE!

My last treasure from the site is this large bag of chip board scrap booking letters and cute words I got for $1.75. Such a fantastic deal as these sell for at least $5.00 each or so for the whole alphabet. I was glad to snag them for future projects.

I thought these would make such a sweet collage with pictures of Mr Joyful Thrifter and I.

Happy Things on Friday

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

Christmas is coming so quickly. I am loving how my house feels right now. I leave the Christmas lights and candles lit all day long so I won't miss a moment of the sparkle. I hope you all are enjoying the season as well.

~~House~~ I am trying to figure out what I want to do for a new dining room table. I think I want to do mismatched chairs and a long table, but I am not sure what style of table I want. This table is almost exactly the concept and the style I like. Plus those chairs are fantastic!

~~Lovely Wear~~ These heels have such a classy feel. I can just imagine pairing these with a skirt or a pair of jeans.

~~Good Eats~~ These cookies are so cute, and they look so easy to make. I am hoping to make them this week some time.

~~Just Fun~~ I just love this tree! How cute it would look to hang craft paper on a wall and draw your own tree. Also a fun craft project for kids. I might just have to recreate this.

2012 Christmas Tree

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I wanted to share my lovely little Christmas tree with you all. Our new house has lovely tall ceilings so we were able to get a 6 foot tree this year, and still have PLENTY of space for a taller tree for future Christmas trees.

Once we got it home and decorated the tree looked so lovely

And as an added Christmas tree bonus when we were in Oakland we got to help out my sister and her husbands Christmas tree. It was so much fun to be with them as they picked out their first Christmas tree.

We had a great time picking out this little tree

The holidays are a very jolly time!

Joyful Creations - Christmas Light Bulb Wreath

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I bought a box of vintage bulbs during my travels. Last year I just kept them in a glass vase, but this year I decided to get crafty with them. I posted pictures of my mantel yesterday with pictures of my little wreath and promised I would show you how to make your own.

Items you will need to make the wreath:

-Wire Hanger

-Christmas Light Bulbs

-Christmas bow

-Merry Christmas Ornament (optional)

Tools Needed:

- Glue Gun

- Bucket (yes I know sounds silly)

-I started out with my simple wire hanger and my box of bulbs

-Next I stretched my hanger around my bucket to attempt a better circle.

- Now you have a circle (sorta) but it does not need to perfect

- I started hot gluing the top bump of each light bulb and placing it directly onto the hanger.

-I globbed the glue on very well so it would stay secure after I was done with my project

-Keep gluing

-FINISHED! Now time to make it look more festive instead of looking like an Indian tribal necklace or like the next immunity necklace for Survivor :)

- I bought this lovely bow at the Dollar store. All I had to do was trim the tails to fit on my wreath.

- I also bought this little "Merry Christmas" ornament at the dollar store too. You can't tell in the picture but the ornament is sparkly. So cute.

I think it came out very lovely! I hope you will be able to make your own at home. If you do please share your pictures :)

Joyful Decorating - Christmas Mantal

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

My house has a very unusual mantel that makes it very difficult to decorate and make cute. That just means my creativity is challenged and I must try very hard to get original and make an ugly hard to decorate piece full of beauty. After several put that up and then take that down attempts I am very pleased with the end result. Since we just moved in I jumped right into decorating my house for Christmas. It actually made it easy because then I didn't have to make any decisions as to real every day decorations because Christmas decorations are all about sparkle and cheer.

Here is my lovely little mantel

As you can tell I have an adobe style mantel that has a very tiny ledge to put little treasures, which if you know me you know that I love little things and have a plethora of them. Some time in the near future I want to paint that brown on the mantel the same color as the walls, but until that time I am making my brown wall work.

I needed something to fill the space on my mantel, but didn't want to spend much money. I decided to put my box of vintage light bulbs to good use. I will be posting a Joyful Creations post on how to make one yourself tomorrow.

My absolute favorite decoration this year are my skates that I bought this year at an Estate sale for $5.00. They are the perfect Christmas decoration.

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello fellow Thrifters and Friends,

It seems like ages since I have gotten to post my treasure hunt finds. Between packing and the unpacking my house I have been so busy. But I have some lovely treasures that I have found in the last few weeks that I am so happy to share with you all.
I am loving our my back yard, so I couldn't resist taking the pictures in the sunshine.

I found this sweet frame at Goodwill for $4.99. I was so surprised it was priced so low. Goodwill has really been disappointing me lately with prices.

The cutest little Christmas trees! I just think they are so cute. They are meant to be in a Christmas scene, but I just love them just as they are. I got all of them for $1.99.

The littlest and cutest frames. I found them at salvation army for $.88 each. I can't decide if I should repaint them or keep hem the color that they are. What do you all think?

Just a sweet pin. I love its patriotic colors. $1.99 at goodwill, and I can't wait to pair it with an outfit.

We went to a garage sale today and we met a ~~crazy~~ enthusiastic couple who are moving soon and trying to liquidate their stuff. I was looking at this cute bird house and she just gave it to me. I already found a home for it in our back yard.

Now onto the PYREX! I found some real gems recently and I can't wait to share.

YES THE STRIPES ARE NOW MINE!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw this at goodwill for only $4.99. It is in really great condition, and is such a sweet shade of blue.

I went to an amazing Estate sale today, and I got this green bowl for $1.00. It was one of the best sales I have been to in quite some time.

I scored these at the estate sale too, and I got them both for $2.00. Based on the Pyrex insert they seem new, but I am not sure. Does anyone know the age of these pitchers?
