Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

     Today was such a fun festive day. I got to do a progressive tea with my sisters and my auntie. Each lady prepared a tea sandwich and tea to share at their home. It was so fun to see each lovely home decorated in festive decorations. Each day this week I will share pictures of each lovely home. We also did an ornament exchange at each home, and this is the ornament I made for the exchange.

I just love using my old music paper. It has been such a theme this Christmas with my creations.

I ran a piece of sheet music through my shredder to get thin pieces of paper to put into the ornament. 

I put the pieces of paper inside of the ornament. 

I also added a bit of sparkly glitter inside of the ornament

I wanted to add a bit of color so I took double sided tape and wrapped it around the middle of the ornament

Gold is so festive this time of year

It looks so lovely hanging on the tree

I also added a tag with the year so who ever got my ornament would know what year they received  it on

Wrapped and ready to be given away

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   It has been a lovely week, but very busy. Tis the season for busyness. I just love the holidays. Our apartment smells of cinnamon and pumpkin. I spent most of my time getting presents ready this week, but still made some time to find a few treasures.

A sweet holly hobbie pillow.  I got the pillow for 50% off which meant that I only paid $0.50 for this adorable pillow. It is in my bedroom at the moment, but once I get the spare bedroom together I plan on putting it in there.

Its so sweet. I always think of my older sister when I see holly hobbie stuff because my mom loved dressing her up like holly when she was little. Those pictures are so cute. 

I snatched this journal up so quickly! I just love that is brand new and was only $1.99. I love journals, and I am trying to decide what this journal will hold. My lists, thoughts, church notes, oh the options are endless with an empty journal. I also got the little easel that the journal is standing on for $1.00.

My last find was a wonderful wall clock. Yellow tags were 50% off today at goodwill, and this beautiful clock happened to be 50% too! I got it for $15.00. I just love it, and I cant wait to hang it on our wall. 

Finally here is my find from last week that I did not get an opportunity to post about. I finally found a tanker desk. I have been wanting a tanker desk for quite some time, and when I spotted this desk at a yard sale I squealed with excitement. I have been looking on craigslist for so long trying to find one at a decent price. They are generally anywhere between $50.00-$200.00. I got mine for $20.00!

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

    Creating cards is such a joy for me because I love sending cards. I know for me personally I love opening my mail box to find a hand written card. That is one of the most special feelings. Christmas cards are always so much fun to create, so I sat down in my creative little room and went to work yesterday.

Choosing the paper is so much fun. Remember it does not always have to go. Be creative and try things you would not normally pair together. I wanted this card to match so I pulled out my Christmas paper.

I used to work at a scrapbooking store, and I learned most of my techiniques from my fellow co workers. I love ripping paper because it takes away straight lines and measuring. One time I was asked how to properly rip paper. I was so unsure how to answer that question because all you do is rip. It still makes me giggle when I think of that lady asking me how to rip paper.

Remember to get an item to stand out more you can take a stamp pad and brush it along the edges of your "hiding item" It works wonders.

 Putting it all together is my favorite part. What goes where, and should I use pop up glue or regular. Where should I put some sparkle.

Stickles is my favorite to add a bit of sparkle to your card. Its super easy and dries quickly

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   Todays finds are very different from my usual fare. I found some awesome pieces of furniture.

The two white chairs are my most recent addition to my living room. I got them both for $10.00. I also found the rug at the same garage sale for $15.00. We went to this sale at just the right time because they were getting ready to finish up and just wanted to get rid of their stuff.  I took off the slip cover on one chair and left it on the other. I can't decide if I like it with or without. First I need to see if the slip cover will clean up. That will be the true deciding factor.

Here is a close up of the chair that does not have the slip cover on it right now. 

After I bought the chairs I went home and went to the Ikea website because the lady who sold me the chairs said she bought them there. I had a nice surprise waiting for me when I visited the site. There was my exact same chair with a $129.00 price tag on it! I was so shocked. I just paid $10.00 for the same thing, and I got two chairs. I think I did pretty good. I thought about buying a new slip cover for the chair, but they cost $50.00, so i am just going to enjoy the chairs and if they get dirty I will just remember that I only paid $5.00 and their are other chairs in the world that could replace them. 

Here is a peak of my other find, but because it is so heavy we are waiting for my brother to bring us a dolly so we can get it into the apartment. Will hopefully post tonight or tomorrow pictures of this amazing find.

Just to tease you on another post I am working on here is a sneak peak of my apartment decorated for Christmas.

3 things that put a smile on my face

Hello Fellow Thrifters and friends,

  The three things that made me smile today are all from the same place today, and its because everything I found from this artist made me smile. I was just blessed by stumbling on this etsy store, and I just love all of her sweet and gentle works for art.

I think the reason I like all of these lovely drawings is because they remind me of myself!

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   The joys of having my own craft room continue to amaze me. I just love thinking to myself "I have a few minutes why don't I go upstairs and create something cute." I can't share all of my creations because one of them is a christmas present, but I will be able to share one of them with you all. I have seen so many people making pin wheels on Pinterest and in blog land, and I wanted to give my hand at making one too.

I chose old music sheets because they are super cute and easy to fold. 

I began to fold the first piece and I did not measure anything I just guessed about how much I wanted my folds to be. If I can avoid using a tape measure I WILL! 

The first half of the pin wheel

Now that I have both sides of the pin wheel complete I can make a circle by gluing them together

I used glue dots to connect the two parts of the wheel

Then I took spray glue and sprayed the front of the wheel and sprinkled glitter on top (thanks to my mother in law I actually had spray glue on hand because she was sweet enough to give me her can)

I used a wonderful "M" that I had in my stash. I knew this "M" would go to good use. I bought it ages ago, and was hanging onto it for just the right project. I plugged in the hot glue gun at this point to adhere the Merry to the pin wheel. Regular glue would not do the trick, but the hot glue worked perfectly. 

I had some sweet snow flakes ribbon which I cut out individually and attached using glue dots

This was my favorite touch to the wheel. I punched wholes in each fold and then I threaded this fun ribbon through each hole

TA DA! The final product came out so cute

I love how old and vintage it looks. 

I hung it on my tea cart, which is sitting next to my Christmas tree

This project was so easy, and so much fun to create.

The Joy of Pyrex

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

  I love using my Pyrex, but there are only two of us so I can only use them for their specific use for so long. Using my Pyrex for unconvential uses is one of my favorite things. Pulling out my snowflake Pyrex was a wonderful treat for me this week, and I wanted it to shine.

I suppose it glows more then shines, but it still looks lovely.

Joyful Tablescapes

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   I gave you a little sneak peak of my Christmas table scape in my treasure hunt finds post, and now I want to share the whole thing.

I love setting up my table for Christmas. This is one of my favorite holidays, so I always like my table to be lovely. Now time to share some wonderful meals around this festive table. 

After I got married my mom asked me what pattern I wanted my Christmas dishes to be in, and I instantly responded "JUST LIKE YOURS!" I grew up waiting for Christmas to come so we could use the special Christmas dishes. These are the perfect plates, and I love bringing them out at this time of year.

 Do you remember this mouse cage? I finally got it cleaned up and made pretty. There was definitely mixed feelings on this little cage, but I think it turned out very cute. (please ignore my vacuum in the background of this picture)

Tis the season for jolly and cheer! Oh how I love Christmas time!
