Joyful Creations - Re-Covering an Old Book

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   Wow life can pass by so quickly at times, but I am glad my life has slowed down a bit. I am currently writing this post at 2:15 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Why you ask is this important information to share? Well because this is my first official week as a full time stay at home wife, and I am so excited about this new phase in my life. Mr Joyful Thrifter and I have been working towards this goal for quite some time, and now that it is here I am not sure if it feels real quite yet. I hope to be bringing some wonderful DIY posts soon and some more baking posts too.

   My sweet aunt gifted me a knitting book that she has had for quite some time. The information in the book is great, but the book needed a bit of love. She told me the next time I saw her that I would need to bring the book all fixed and pretty. I hope she likes it.

Here are the steps I took to give this book a new colorful life

I think this book is going to enjoy its new life as a hip and colorful book

Joyful Cooking - Vegan Open Faced Bagel

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

  During our anniversary weekend in San Diego Mr Joyful Thrifter and I found a wonderful cafe called "To the Point - Cafe and Eatery" It had the perfect vibe and atmosphere we were looking for to enjoy a quiet breakfast in our just got out of bed outfits.

I ordered a vegan open faced bagel and Mr Joyful Thrifter ordered the special of the day "tot-chos"which is nachos made with Tator Tots salsa and a bunch of other goodness.  The food food was so amazing that we decided to re-create it at home.

Ingredients:

Bagels - we used whole wheat

Hummus

Cucumber

Tomato

Avocado

Fresh Basil

Sprouts

Directions:

-Toast bagel
- cover both sides of the bagel with hummus. (We used a garlic flavored hummus that added an extra level of flavor)
-Top with vegetables in your favorite order
-ENJOY!

This meal is a really easy quick one to make, and you feel really satisfied when you are finished. Have you made any new meals lately?

3 Years of Loveliness

Today celebrates 3 wonderful years of marriage to my Mr Joyful Thrifter. It has been the most lovely 3 years, and I am thankful that I get to be married to such a wonderful man. I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from our wedding.

Life Lately VIA my ITouch

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

Wow it has been quite a bit of time since I shared my Itouch photos. So much has happened recently, and I have gone on lots of adventures lately. 

Life happens sometimes, and sometimes its not so fun. I wacked my poor mirror in my parking space. My swee Mr Joyful Thrifters already replaced my mirror, but it sure was a sad day.

Pomona offered an entire street of antique stores. It was really fun to explore the stores. 

I wish this bowl could have come home with me, but it was $22.00. So pretty to look at though.

We enjoyed chili fries at The Hat. See the picture below of the amazing artery clogging chili fries.

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   Treasures! Wahoo! Things have been busy, so my treasure hunting has not been as frequent as before. My sweet husband and I spent the weekend in San Diego for our 3 year wedding anniversary, and it was so fun to go some where new for both of us. Plus we stayed in the most lovely hotel. I will share pictures later this week. We got to bop around San Diego on Saturday and explore some new thrift stores, which was so fun.

I love the little post card and magnet I picked up to remember our trip. I felt like this picture was a perfect representation of Mr Joyful Thrifter and I.

On Saturday we drove around looking for garage sales near our hotel. We found two Estate sales, and of course we stopped by. The first one had wonderful prices. I got both of these Pyrex bowls for $3.00 total. I love the larger two toned bowl. It is the first two toned bowl that I have. 

Two frogs for $1.00. These frogs are in awesome condition. The one on the left looks almost brand new, but I know the truth. I was excited to get two of these for only $1.00.

Yes those are ice skates. I have not bought anything super unusual recently, and when I found these I had to have them. We went to 1/2 price day at the estate sale, and I was able to get these for $5.00. I can't wait to display them at Christmas time.

Here is some wonderful inspiration for my ice skates at Christmas time. I can't wait to display them this holiday season.

Finally a new camera bag bought at goodwill for $4.99. Mr Joyful Thrifter scored this find for me, and I can't wait to tote my camera around in it.

Joyful Gifts

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   The Holiday weekend is over and I am again dressed and ready for work. How did that happen so fast? It always does. Anyways over the weekend I was blessed by two very sweet gifts. The first is a colorful "r" from Anthroplogie. My sweet friend Emily knows of my love for the letter "r" and when she found this beauty she picked it up for me. I think it will go very sweetly with my collection.

The second present I received this weekend was a cute fat little bird. My sister in law found in while on a camping trip and knew I would love him. She knows that I L-O-V-E fat birds. I think they are so cute! This little cutie will find a lovely home in my house with all of my other bird friends.

I hope you all had a lovely Labor day weekend, and got some rest before returning back to work.

Rearranged Style

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

   I love it when I have time to rearrange shelves or nooks in my apartment. It always makes things look fresh and new. We also had a party recently at our apartment, and that was fun to change things up before our guests arrived. Now to be fair I probably should have spent more time cleaning instead of rearranging, but it all turned out ok.

I just love my type writers, and I have never displayed them together before. They looked lonely in three different parts of the apartment, so I brought them together. I think it came out pretty cute.

I bought these suit cases awhile back, but it took quite a bit of time to find a good home for them. I just love them perched a top the stair case. It looks so cute.

JCrew Catalogue YAY!

       Do you get excited when you open your mail box to discover the new JCrew catalogue waiting for you? Ok just me? JCrew makes some of the most lovely outfits unfortunately they are usually always out of my price range, but I just love the inspiration from their catalogues.
