Project Life Pages

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
I wanted to share some more pages from my favorite project. I just love my scrap book. I am just finishing up week 25 and that means that I have scrap booked 25 weeks of our lives. When I say that it just makes me happy. I can't wait till December 31. I have a date with a turquoise scrapbook and a cup of tea. I want to go slowly through my scrap book and read each caption. Can you tell I love this project?
Happy Project Life!
P.s Tomorrow I am going to share some of my storage for Project life

Kitchen Island Update

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
I have been looking at this unused side of my island for awhile now trying to figure out what I could do to make it a bit more functional and cute. I was browsing around Pinterest and I saw something that made me think that I could easily remove the doors and I would automatically have built in shelves for displaying my cook books and of course Pyrex.

Before:
After: (sorry for the blurry shot)
I got all of my cook books together, and then played around with my Pyrex to see what was going to end up on the shelf.
I decided to use all of my pretty yellow Pyrex. I usually like to bring lots of colors together, but I am trying to be a bit more simple in my decorating. I also really like how the yellows look together with my cook books.
I think it is a great change. Plus it only took about 5 minutes to update this space in my kitchen. And the best part is that I did not spend any money to make this happy change in my kitchen.
Happy Updating!

DIY Wooden Monogram Sign

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
I was so excited when I found out my sweet friend was getting married, and for me that meant making her an awesome shower present. I knew that I wanted to make her something, but I just didn't know what. I looked on Pinterest for inspiration. When I started thinking about the lovely shower gifts I received when I got married I knew what I wanted to make here. When I got married anything personal or specifically anything with my soon to be married name on it were some of my favorite wedding presents.
I asked the bride what her colors were going to be in her house and I went for it.

I started off with a trip to Joann's where I found the "M" and the wooden plaque. Both of which were natural wood color, so that meant they were both ready for paint.
I used paint I had at home, which cut down the price of this cute project tremendously.
After painting the plaque and the letter I let them dry over night so I would not have any ugly finger prints on them.
I used chip board letters from my scrap booking stash for their last name and the date.
After everything was dry I used my hot glue gun to attach everything together. I also used some sand paper to distress the edges. I didn't want it looking too new.
The hot glue gun worked very well on the chip board letters because it glued the corners of the letters down very nicely. They were a little warped after being painted.
I just love the finished product. The only thing that kept me from keeping this project was the fact we have very different last names.
The bride loved the gift too!
Happy Crafting!

Card Rack Decorated

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
I just love the card rack I picked up at a flea market. I got a bunch of pictures developed so I could display them on the rack. I went through and picked out wedding pictures, travels, and just random pictures to display. It is so fun to turn it and see the fun times we have had together. I love that I can change out the photos or add post cards or whatever fun things I come across.
Now I can't wait for company to come over and take a look at our adventures.

No More Brown Mantel! YAY!

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
This weekend was so great because we got some home projects done. The best one from this weekend was painting my mantel.  WAHOO!!! I am one happy home owner. When we were looking at the home listing for our house I didn't even want to look at it because of the ugly mantle. It's pretty funny how things work out isn't it? I ended up loving the rest of the home so much that the mantel did not matter so much any more. Fast forward 7 months and we finally got around to painting the mantel the same cream as the walls.
Putting the primer up was so much fun. Good bye brown. You will not be missed.
Two coats of primer and two coats of paint later and my mantle is looking so pretty. I would love to remove the whole thing, but since it is actually part of the wall I don't see that happening any time soon. In the mean time I love that it does not stand out as much any more.

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
A trip to the Ventura swap meet yielded some awesome finds this week. I have been wanting to go to the Ventura swap meet for awhile, and my best friend just happened to have the day off. WIN WIN! We got down there and the weather was perfect, and we got to walk through each aisle at our own pace. It was so much fun.
Lots of lovely Pyrex, but I did not bring any of these beauties home.
Worlds BEST fish tacos and shrimp burritos. If you are ever in the Ventura area you MUST stop by and get some food here! I actually made the statement that the shrimp burrito was on my top five favorite foods I have ever eaten in my life. Yep the food is that good.
Just looking at this picture makes me want to drive down there right now and get all of this food again.
I left this behind at a thrift store, but I had to snap a picture to remember it. The inside was pretty gross, but it sure was fun to see this beauty.Plus it was only $90.00, which is a great price for this fridge.
Here are the treasures I brought home with me. I was so happy to score these beautiful Pyrex mugs. These have been on my Pyrex wish list for a long time, and it was really exciting to find some in a great  avocado green color. The lady who had the booth was just trying to move her items so she sold all three of them for $5.00.
To be honest I have no idea what this even is,but I loved the shiny gold color with the cream center. It thought it would make a perfect candle holder. I paid $1.00 for it.
Metal picture frame for $1.00.
One of my great finds of the day is this vintage cafeteria tray. It is in great condition and has silver sparkles on it. So perfect.
Now I am one step closer to recreating this table that I have been loving for forever.
Now that I have my turquoise record player I am happily picking up records when I find them. I spend any where between $0.50-$2.00. My two favorite records I have found are fiddler on the roof and west side story.

What did you find this week? I would love to see your treasures too! Feel free to link up below. Or you can post your pictures to the Joyful Treasure Hunting facebook page (link on the side bar).
Here are the lovely sites I enjoy linking up with. We get to share more fun that way:
