Swap Meet Adventures

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

What a perfectly lovely week it has been so far! The weather here in California has been gorgeous, and I took three days off! Perfect combination. Every Tuesday is a swap meet in our town, and now that the weather is warming up the swap meet has grown so much. I was so excited to have this past Tuesday off to go treasure hunting in the beautiful sunshine! I also got the wonderful opportunity to shop with my fellow thrifting buddy Kami from The Blue Kazoo. She loves vintage goodness just as much as I do.

Speaking of my friend here she is as we enjoy the sunshine and the swap meet.

For those who have gone to any flee market or swap meet most of the booths are a mess and most of what the stall holders have to sell comes out of their trucks and gets haphazardly placed on a tarp. We were pleasantly surprised to come upon this lovely booth on Tuesday. It was set up in the most pleasing of ways, and I think Kami and I skipped to the booth in excitement.

We also got the opportunity to talk with the stall owner, and it is such a joy to meet other fellow lovers of vintage. Susan from LA REfurbish is such a sweet lady, and we all got to dish about clothes, our blogs and the joy of vintage. She was also kind of enough to take a picture with Kami so we could document this wonderful adventure together, and the joy of meeting a new friend.

I hope we get the opportunity to meet up again because these encounters is what makes this hobby so fun for me.

What a perfect day it was!

Enjoy another lovely Thursday! One day closer to the weekend and all the treasures that will be found.

Joyful Decorating - Jewelry Organizer

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I think we all struggle with storing our jewelry so it does not get ruined or tangled. Or maybe its just me! I am not sure, but I have never had a good method of storing my necklaces so they don't get all tangled together. Yesterday I remembered I had a mug holder that was not being used anymore, and it occurred to me that it might work to hold my necklaces. Plus its always nice when you use something that is cute too.

This black necklace is one of my favorites because sweet Mr Joyful Thrifter gifted it to me for our first anniversary married.

I hope it will work longer then just after my pictures are taken!

Have a great day!

Gifted Joy - Vintage Camera's

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

My sweet sister in law was given these vintage cameras by my dad, but she could not quite find a good home for them at her house. She asked if I could take them and give them a good home. I was more then happy to take them to treasure in my home! Plus its fun that they came from my dad!

THANK YOU DADDY!!!

My Joyful Life Through my ITouch

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

The best thing I have bought in a long while was my ITouch. I love it so much. I was not sure if I would use it as much as I thought I would, and I pleasently surprised myself by actually using it more then expected. Now I can't leave the house without my Touch because I love knowing I have books, games, but most importantly a camera with me at all times. I have gotten to snap so many pictures and moments that I would have missed otherwise. Its great fun, and I am glad I made the investment. I love seeing how other people's lives are lived VIA there Iphone or Itouch, so here begins my joyful life through my Itouch.
Playing Croquet after Church on Easter Sunday

Spending the day on 3rd street down in Santa Monica

Finding a Chicken car parked like every other kind of car in our parking lot

Oo'ing and Aw'ing at the wonderful papers sold at Paper Source

Enjoying a quiet afternoon by myself at the coffee house. My new Favorite Place

Quickly parking my car and jumping out so I can snap a picture of this beautiful Turquoise VW. That made my day!

What has your life looked like lately according to your Iphone or Itouch??

Joyful Gifts - Pyrex Print

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

Blogland continues to surprise me in the most lovely ways. I got  a surprise e-mail from Peggy at The Painted Pear requesting my address because she found a treasure on her travels that she bought for me. I was so overwhelmed by her thoughtfullness. It was so kind of her to see a treasure, think of me and my little blog, and then buy it to send all the way to my little world.

I want to give a big THANK YOU! to Peggy for her kind present, and secondly for picking out something that I would love so much! And now with out further waiting here is the lovely present that Peggy sent to me.

An original Pyrex ad! I was so excited to open up this treasure when I got it in the mail. I love that to get one of these bowls it was only $4.50 for a 48oz and $5.95 for an 80oz. Prices for these can be very high!

It was also fun to pair this print with the real dishes

Thank you again Peggy!! I just love my present.

I hope you all are having a lovely Sunday. My day is going very different then planned as my sweet Mr Joyful Thrifter is under the weather. I am taking care of him as he recovers.

Enjoy the last part of your weekend!

The Joyful Thrifter

Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful Saturday. We did not get to go to the sales today because we were busy doing other things, but a few weekends ago I went to Estate Sale and found some lovely treasures. It was the last day of the Estate sale so most of the items were priced really inexpensively.

All of the items that I bought at the Estate Sale cost $8.00, so I don't have individual prices for the items I bought. The funny thing about the total is that we have no idea how she came up with that total. Here are the lovelies:

I just love these lovely framed cross stitch pictures. I think these pretties will end up living in the kitchen.

Vintage autograph book.

The book is for other high schoolers to sign before the end of the year, but instead this autograph book is filled with cartoons. Its so fun.

"How to make good pictures" the title is so funny. Its not "How to TAKE good pictures", but "How to make good pictures" I love how things have changed so much since this book was written, techniques have changed and styles of photography.

Beautiful handmade table runner. Its so pretty.

Vintage sheets. I have great plans for these.

I do hope you all had a wonderfully thrifty week!

Smiles,
The Joyful Thrifter
