I got the wonderful opportunity to spend the long holiday weekend with my in laws, which is always a wonderful time! I asked my mother in law to help me make some pillows for my apartment and she was so glad to help.
I made a yellow pillow for our bedroom and a brown and cream pillow for our green couch in the living room.
This was my first time using a surger and I fell in love with it! I have no idea how my mom and I sewed all of those countless projects without having one of these wonderful machines.
Once the stuffing went in I knew I was almost done! Such a great feeling.
I decided to add some details to my yellow pillow. What better detail then a sweet yo yo. It is such an easy detail to add to any little project.
I loved getting to sew on the final touches on my little pillow.
The final flowers came out so sweet!
Total cost for two pillows = $10.00!!! I went shopping last week to find some pillows and I was so silly to think I could find something affordable at Bed Bath and Beyond. One small pillow was $29.99! I just could not bring myself to buying a thirty dollar pillow, and one that I didn't even like that much. So I decided the only way I was going to have the pillows I wanted was to make them myself! PERFECT! It was such a fun thing to do over the holiday weekend.
Did you get to do any crafting or thifting over the long weekend?
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

What lovely little pillows. I wish I could make a yoyo as lovely as that! Have you thought of making and selling some for the clueless out there like me? I have some ideas for using them but no talent to make them.

Ooooh, I really love that wonderful yellow fabric. Of course the details look great with it. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a lovely holiday weekend and your pillows turned out beautifully! I love the way you embellished them with the lace rosettes and the buttons too!
