Being Joyful on a Rainy Day

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,

Raining all day rarely happens in my neck of the woods, so I am enjoying staying home all day and cleaning! I was able to get all of my craft supplies that I had stored at my parents. I was so excited to find all of my treasures again, but I really forgot how much stuff I had because my craft room is a disaster at the moment. Because I know I am amongst friends (and fellow messy crafters) I am going to share pictures of my messy room before it gets a makeover.

I know you can see the potential, just look past the mess.

Yes I did end up in the hallway

Its been a wonderful day, and I am so glad I have gotten to spend this time in my little room that is filled with creative pieces. I did put up some decorations to help brighten the space a bit.

I bought all of these old photos at a garage sale awhile back, and I knew I wanted these ladies overseeing my creative work.

I love thinking about these women. Who are they, what did they accomplish, and would they be happy knowing their picture is hanging in my craft room as a decoration?

Before I head back to my mess I had to share this wonderful recipe that is perfect for enjoying on a rainy day like today

Cheesy Potato Chowder

Ingredients

  • 8 to 12 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3 carrots, diced
  • 2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) chicken broth
  • 1 pound process cheese (Velveeta), cubed
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled, divided
  • 3 cups milk

Directions

  • In a large kettle, cook potatoes and carrots in chicken broth until tender, about 10 minutes. Add the cheese, dill weed, salt and pepper. Cook and stir until cheese is melted. Add bacon, reserving 1/2 cup, and milk. Heat through. Top individual bowls with reserved bacon. Yield: 10-12 servings (3 quarts).

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I will show you some updated pictures soon of a hopefully more organized craft room.

Smiles,
The Joyful Thrifter

  3. That recipie sounds so good, I just bought 2 lbs of potatoes b/c they were cheap. Once I got home I thought "what the heck am I going to do with all these?" SO your recipie sounds great! Thanks!
