I don't know what it is about Valentines Day this year, but I am excited. I just love being married to Mr Joyful Thrifter, so I love that this holiday celebrates being in love. I know I can show him how much I love him all year, and I do, but it sure if fun to get into a holiday that celebrates pink, white, and red. Three lovely colors!
I decided to actually put those heart doilies to good use this year, and turn them into a table runner.
I laid out my hearts on my table to get the correct measurements of how many hearts would actually fit on my little table. After I knew the count I laid them on the floor to decide which direction the hearts would go.
I used the tips and ends of the hearts as my guide. I wanted the heart to still look like a heart after I sewed it.
I carefully pinned the hearts together.
After they were pined I sewed a straight line right down the middle of the hearts. Be very careful not to rip your lacy hearts.
TA DA!! A very simple table runner. Plus its so easy to make that you can toss it and recerate it next year. I plan on leaving notes on the hearts throughout the month for Mr Joyful Thrifter.
I really like the final product!
Stay tuned tomorrow for the rest of my Valentines tablescape! Its very festive, and very sparkly. I would like to take a moment to say that I love Mr Joyful Thrifter for putting up with all of my crazy decorations. He is a great guy!
Do you enjoy decorating for this lovey dovey holiday?
Smiles,
The Joyful Thrifter
