Treasure Hunt Finds

Hello Fellow Thrifters and Friends,
About three years ago I was at a garage sale and I came across a hand made daisy blanket. I just loved the pattern and the cheerful colors. The lady wanted $10.00 for the blanket and at the time I did not want to spend that much money on an old blanket. I have regretted not getting that blanket ever since. I would think of it sometimes when I would look at crocheted blankets at the thrift stores and I would kick myself for not getting it. Well I went to one of the little local thrift stores this past week, and low and behold THERE was my blanket. It was a bit smaller but the pattern and colors were exactly the same. Guess what I did? I LEFT IT THERE! ugh! I don't know why I did it I just did. So a few days went by and I could not stop thinking about that silly blanket. I hopped in my truck and drove back over the thrift store hoping it had not sold. I walked in and there was my happy daisy blanket waiting for me on the rack. I snatched it up and gave the lady my $10.00. I think it is a bit ironic that I ended up paying the same amount for this blanket. Oh well! I finally have my daisy blanket and I love it.
I just love the detail on this blanket. Someone put a lot of love and time into making it.

  4. $10 is a bargain. I am a crocheter and I know there is more that $10 worth of yarn in that blanket, let alone the hours spent on it.

  9. I think the white part of the daisy was made on a form and then slipped off and finished with crochet. I have a vague memory from the 60's or late '50's of daisy work.

  10. Hey Rachael,

I LOVE the daisy crocheted blanket! So glad it was still there when you went back! I've gotten several crocheted blankets that I've found at thrift stores and I love them. I'm with you, there's a lot of time and talent that go into those and I can't resist giving them a good home!
    Thanks for sharing!

  11. That is so crazy that you ended up finding exactly what you wanted! Sometimes you just have to think about how much you want something before you are willing to spend the money. $10 is a good price though - it is so cute!
